Art, Architecture, Sex and Power: Monica Bonvicini in Conversation
Sotheby's Institute of Art - Los Angeles, in conjunction with Claremont Graduate University's Department of Art and the Atlantic Lecture Series, is pleased to present an evening with renowned artist Monica Bonvicini, in conversation with Jonathan T. D. Neil, Director of Sotheby's Institute of Art - Los Angeles.
Bonvicini's work is currently on view at the Berlinische Galerie, Berlin, and in A Good Neighbour, 15th Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul; 13th Media Arts Biennial, Santiago de Chile; Atopia – Migration, Heritage and Placelessness, works from the TBA21 Collection, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Lima; Luther und die Avantgarde, Historic Prison, Lutherstadt Wittenberg; and at Glassstress 2017, Palazzo Franchetti, Venice.
Monica Bonvicini is currently Professor for Performative Arts and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She is the recipient of the Golden Lion at the Biennale di Venezia (1999); the Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst, from the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (2005); and the Rolandpreis für Kunst for art in the public from the Foundation Bremen, Germany (2013). She has been represented in numerous biennials and has had solo exhibitions Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2002), Modern Art Oxford, England (2003), Secession, Vienna (2003), Sculpture Center (2007), the Art Institute of Chicago (2009), the Kunstmuseum Basel (2009), Frac des Pays de la Loire (2009), the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel (2011), Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Malága, Spain (2011), and the Deichtorhallen Hamburg (2012), Kunsthalle Mainz (2013), and BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art (2016/17).
